LGE was originally created as “Local Green Energy” and specialised in trading renewable energy on the market. LGE has close relationships with the highly acclaimed Greengen group through joint CEO Simon Rigby, and trade the Farmgen branch of the business’ renewable energy produced from Anaerobic Digestion facilities. The reliance on in house produced market intelligence ensures a high level of accountability within LGE’s trading and operations.
Asif has an academic background in Environmental Management/Engineering. He began his career in Environmental Research in the Higher Education Sector, where he was involved in Environmental Awareness Raising and Sustainability research. In 2004 Asif moved into the Environmental Consultancy sector, working for Scientifics Limited as the National Account Manager, Asif managed Scientifics’ core business in the rail sector.
Asif joined a large energy consultancy in 2007 and specialised in Utility Consultancy and Energy Procurement solutions. Here, Asif contributed significantly to business development and growth. Asif was appointed Managing Director of LGE in 2011; he now has responsibility for the P&L and general management of LGE.
Simon comes from a dairy farming family, based close to Lytham on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire. After graduating from Hull University in 1983, he joined the then Yorkshire Electricity Board, with whom he qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1987.
In 1996 Simon led the management buyout of the buildings and grounds maintenance services from Yorkshire Electricity to form Spice plc. Spice started with 12 employees and one contract for £3m. It now employs 4,500 staff worldwide and turns over £400m. Spice floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2004. Simon was Chief Executive Officer of Spice plc from its formation until 2010. He has also remained close to his farming roots and today farms 2,000 acres in the North West of England.
Chris has been associated with energy procurement for 35 years. As well as holding key industry relationships within the supply side of the industry he has operated as a Managing Director with Inenco and Spice plc, being a prime mover in the industry and introducing many of the current procurement methodologies that are helping to shape the industry into the form we see today.
Within our parent company Greengen Group he is responsible for the introduction of emerging technologies and translating those into business opportunities on behalf of our customers. The good fit that exists between renewable generation technologies and the needs of businesses to source reliable energy supplies at affordable prices helps to provide the ingredients for an innovative solution to our customers.
